The Arc of Steuben Foundation was created in 1997 to raise funds to support people with disabilities and their families.
One of our primary goals was to establish an endowment to secure the future of services to people supported by The Arc of Steuben. The endowment will provide a guaranteed source of income, year after year, helping us navigate a fluctuating economy. The Foundation funds grants to The Arc of Steuben programs for needs not funded by other sources. Examples include:
- Medical equipment for individuals
- Expenses to attend self-advocacy conferences
- Carbon monoxide detectors for homes
- AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in several program locations
- Specialized training for staff
- Gardening program planters
- Recreation equipment
Wish Upon an Arc Star program
The Foundation’s Wish Upon an Arc Star program, launched in June 2011, funds Wish requests on behalf of a child or adult supported by The Arc of Steuben. A request is initiated by a staff person who is aware of an individual’s life dream or passion that could be fulfilled with funding and the support of community resources.
Our Foundation, created with a grant from the Fred and Harriet Taylor Foundation and donations from supporters, also allows you to choose from a number of methods to make gifts for people with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Donors are recognized and honored on the Arc of Stars wall.
Legacy Bricks are available to honor a loved one, an organization, or business.
Bricks and pavers are engraved as requested and installed in a permanent walkway at the entrance to our main building at the Bath campus. Contact the Development department for information.
