Peter has had a drive, since the very first time Arc of Steuben met him, to be able to live on his own, be successful in his career, and to have a loving relationship.
When we first met Peter several years, he was struggling to keep his own home and job. He had no social life.
Since then, he has received help from Arc of Steuben’s Service Coordination, Community Supports, Industrial Solutions, Supported Employment and Residential divisions.
The assistance that Peter has received has helped him to achieve his dream of succeeding at work. He can be seen now at the Hornell Veterinary office cleaning the kennels and doing other jobs as assigned with a job coach. Peter loves his job and chooses to work five days a week.
Peters' success at work resulted in his receiving a TV and DVD player from the Arc of Steuben’s Incentive To Work program. And Peter has moved to the Wayland home, which is a dream come true because he can be with his significant other.
Peter has now achieved two of his dreams – a good career and a loving relationship. And with the effort he’s putting in, we expect he’ll soon realize his third: living on his own.
“ Because of your ongoing support, we now have life-long employees who enjoy coming to work every day. ”
