The Guardianship team of Bernie Burns, Eric Buisch, Tonya Harrison, Joan Whelpley, Colleen Burns, Matt Mehlenbacher, Stephanie Craig, Vicki Fuerst, Ester Covell, Pauline Holbrook, Chris DeSoccio Burns and Kila Cook was named the Arc of Steuben’s Team of the Quarter.
The team was nominated because of the commitment they recently exhibited to one of the former residents of the Wayland home.
“As the gentleman’s health began to decline and he was hospitalized, Eric was there each step of the way ensuring the gentleman’s medical and personal care was of the highest quality,” the nomination letter, written by Chari VanAllen, said. “Eric ensured the gentleman’s religious beliefs were honored; ensuring he received last rites, and when his rosary came up missing while he was in the hospital Eric made sure that the rosary was replaced and blessed prior to Eric giving it to him.”
Many members of the Guardianship team also visited the gentleman in the hospital before he died.
Committee members also bought pizza and snacks to the nurses at the hospital where the gentleman was staying.
“In addition, each year the Guardianship team ensures that the people they represent have a joyous Christmas by putting on a delicious holiday breakfast, and delivering beautifully personalized gifts,” Vicki Huels said.
Also nominated for the Team of the Quarter honors were the Pinney Road team, the Brundage Road team and the Workfloor team.
